BREATH 2018 bronze 70x34x14

Most of my sculptures were created in a process, which incorporated an audience at the creative stage. I prepared her for an art event, where the audience were mostly Ultra-Orthodox Jews. The image was still in the raw material stage, the hands placed on the chest in a praying position and beneath the sculpture, it said DO TOUCH, as on all my sculptures It was fascinating to see an audience who observes the law of non- touch (Shomer Negiah) approaching and touching, between body and material, between naked and wet soil. Women whispered in my ear, that they felt aroused at the touch, and asked if it`s all right. Others observed from afar, but were unable to approach. The need to touch belongs to everyone, just not all hands are free to know. I continued the sculpture in my studio, the hands moved to the back in a tied position. There was something ceremonial and quiet about her. Exposed and silent as one. When I finished shaping the grooves for her lips, I felt she had no air, as if her mouth was trying to inhale air forcefully. I immediately made adeep opening on the side of her body like fish gills and I heard her take a long breath, as if coming out of a deep suffocating dive.

רוב הפסלים שלי נוצרו בתהליך, ששילבתי קהל בשלב היצירה.

אותה הכנתי אותה עבור ארוע אמנות שהקהל ברובו היה היה דתי-חרדי. הדמות היתה עדיין גולמית, הידיים היו מונחות על בית החזה בתנוחת תפילה. ותחת הפסל היה כתוב DO TOUCH, כמו על כל הפסלים שלי.

היה מרתק לראות קהל שומר נגיעה מתקרב ונוגע, בין גוף לחומר, בין ערום לאדמה רטובה. נשים לחשו לי באוזן שהן חשות עוררות עם המגע ושאלו אם זה בסדר.. אחרים הביטו מרחוק ולא יכלו לגשת. הצורך לגעת שייך לכולם.. רק לא כל הידיים חופשית לדעת. יש באדמת חרסית רטובה, חלקלקות וארוטיות כמו עור אדם. היא מעוררת את כולם.

המשכתי את הפסל אצלי בסטודיו, הידיים עברו לאחור לתנוחת קשירה. היה בה משהו טקסי ושקט. חשופה ומשותקת כאחד. כשסיימתי לעשות את חריצי השפתיים, הרגשתי שאין לה אוויר, הפה כמו מנסה לשאוף בכח..

מיד פתחתי לה בצד הגוף פתחים עמוקים, כמו זימים. ושמעתי אותה לוקחת נשימה ארוכה, כמו יצאה מצלילה עמוקה וחנוקה.
